Flo Rida Is Doubly Sweet On The Hot 100

Flo Rida’s “Right Round” stays on top of the Hot 100.
March 26, 2009 12:57 PM ET
Ayala Ben-Yehuda, L.A.

Flo Rida’s appearances on the Hot 100 are doubly sweet this week, with “Right Round” maintaining at No. 1 and “Suga,” featuring Wynter, scoring the chart’s hot shot debut at No. 25. “Suga,” which sold 78,000 digital tracks last week and quadrupled its airplay audience, is the third single to chart from Flo Rida’s upcoming Mar. 31 album, “R.O.O.T.S.”

The chart’s greatest airplay gainer was Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face,” which climbs to No. 2 this week on the Hot 100 from No. 3. “Kiss Me Thru The Phone,” by Soulja Boy Tell ’em featuring Sammie, also shifted up one spot to No. 3. from No. 4.

Rounding out the top 10 are “Dead and Gone,” by T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake, which slips two positions to No. 4; the All-American Rejects’ “Gives You Hell,” up one to No. 5; Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You,” dropping one spot to No. 6; “Blame It,” by Jamie Foxx featuring T-Pain, up one spot to No. 7; Kanye West’s “Heartless,” down one to No. 8; “I Told You So,” by Carrie Underwood featuring Randy Travis, which zooms up to No. 9 from No. 57; and Lady GaGa featuring Colby O’Donis with “Just Dance,” maintaining at No. 10.

For digital tracks, Britney Spears’ “If U Seek Amy” scored the chart’s top digital gain, moving it up to No. 26 on the chart.
Among many newcomers to the Hot 100 this week are Lil Wayne’s “Hot Revolver,” at No. 33; “Forever,” by Rascal Flatts, at No. 53; and Birdman featuring Lil Wayne’s “Always Strapped,” at No. 65. Pleasure P’s “Boyfriend #2” debuts this week at No. 91.

Brad Paisley claims the highest debut of his career on the Hot Country Songs chart as “Then” enters at No. 26 (it debuts at No. 35 on the Hot 100). “Then” is the first single from Paisley’s new album “American Saturday Night,” due June 30. Paisley performed “Then” on the March 18 edition of “American Idol.” Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It” spends a seventh week atop the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Charts.

“Idol” also worked its magic on Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis’ “I Told You So,” which sold 126,000 downloads after their performance of the song on the TV show.

‘Hannah Montana’ And ‘Now 30’ Building Big

“Hannah Montana: The Movie” is aiming for No. 1.
March 26, 2009 12:36 AM ET
Keith Caulfield, L.A.

Next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart will find a pair of albums perhaps vying for the top slot. Both Walt Disney’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie” soundtrack and the “Now 30” compilation (UMe) are on track to start with more than 120,000, but it’s too early to tell which album will triumph. The “Hannah” set led Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart released on March 25.

The chart reflected unweighted sales through the close of business on Tuesday, March 24. Billboard estimates the seven merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart — Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, iTunes, Starbucks, Borders, Target and Anderson Merchandisers — comprise about 60% of all U.S. album sales.

Other albums aiming for a top 10 bow include Keri Hilson’s debut album “In a Perfect World” (Mosley/Zone 4/Interscope), the “Now 30” compilation (UMe), Papa Roach’s “Metamorphosis,” Jim Jones’ “Pray IV Reign” (E1/Columbia) and Martina McBride’s “Shine” (RCA).

And that’s just the list of titles looking good for a top 10 debut. Among the sets heading for a top 25 debut: Slim Thug’s “Boss of All Bosses” (Boss Hogg Outlawz/E1), Mastodon’s “Crack the Skye” (Reprise/Warner Bros.) and Blue October’s “Approaching Normal” (Universal Motown).

Over on the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart, Sony Legacy’s lavish reissue of Pearl Jam’s 1991 debut “Ten” could shift more than 50,000, easily placing it at No. 1.

Nielsen SoundScan’s sales tracking week, as reflected in the official Billboard 200 chart, runs from Monday through Sunday of each week. The newest Billboard 200 chart, released today (March 25) — where Clarkson’s “Wanted” held at No. 1 for a second week with 90,000 — reflected the week that ended on Sunday, March 22.

Kelly Clarkson Stays On Top Of Billboard 200

Kelly Clarkson spends a second week on top of the Billboard 200.
March 25, 2009 12:53 PM ET
Keith Caulfield, L.A.

It’s a hold-steady kind of week on the Billboard 200 as Kelly Clarkson’s “All I Ever Wanted” (S/19/RCA) remains at No. 1 for a second frame, shifting 90,000 (down 65%). U2’s “No Line on the Horizon” (Island/Interscope/IGA) moves up one slot to No. 2 with 76,000 (down 42%) while the-Dream’s “Love Vs. Money” (Radio Killa/Def Jam) slides down two positions to No. 4 with 56,000 (down 63%) in its second week.

The “Twilight” soundtrack (Summit/Chop Shop/Atlantic) rebounds to No. 3 with 74,000 (up 251%) after the set was relaunched March 17 with five bonus tracks and a DVD with interviews and music videos. The timing of the reissue coincides with the DVD bow of the hit film on Saturday, March 21. Summit Home Entertainment, which released the “Twilight” DVD, announced that it sold 3 million copies of the movie in its first day of release.

The chart’s highest debut comes from rapper Gorilla Zoe, who enters with his sophomore set, “Don’t Feed Da Animals” (Block/Bad Boy South), at No. 8 with 31,000. The artist’s first effort, 2007’s “Welcome to the Zoo,” debuted and peaked at No. 18 with a 35,000 entrance. Over on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, “Animals” starts at No. 2, giving the rapper his second top 10 on that list.

Rap combo Twiztid reaches a new chart high with its seventh studio album “W.I.C.K.E.D.” (Psychopathic) at No. 11, shifting 23,000 units. The Decemberists’ “The Hazards of Love” (Capitol) starts at No. 14 with 19,000 following its early exclusive release through iTunes and on 180-gram vinyl in select indie stores. Today (March 24) the set became available in all standard physical and digital formats.

The rest of the top 10 is a tad static: Lady GaGa’s “The Fame” (Streamline/KonLive/Cherrytree/Interscope) climbs one notch to No. 5 with 50,000 (up 8%), Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” (Big Machine) slips one slot to No. 6 with 47,000 (down 9%), Nickelback’s “Dark Horse” (Roadrunner) stays put at No. 7 with 34,000 (down 7%), Beyonce’s “I Am … Sasha Fierce” (Music World/Columbia) slides down one position to No. 9 with 27,000 (down 5%) and Jamie Foxx’s “Intuition” (J) drops one rung to No. 10 with 24,000 (down 10%).
